  • I started playing kalimba when I was 29.

  • I learned this instrument all by myself. I just read manuals and watched tutorials online.

  • I have a very dear friend (who is a former co-worker) who was an apprentice to kalimba back then. I was amazed how she readily mastered and beautifully played the kalimba so well so she became my motivation. From then, I challenged myself to try learning and playing it also because I actually fell in love with the instrument's calming and soothing sound.

  • The first piece I learned is Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi.

  • I can play 3 instruments (ukelele, kalimba, and lyre harp). Currently, I am also learning how to play melodica.

  • I love Filipino bands a lot specifically Silent Sanctuary. I grew up hearing and loving their beautiful songs and just listening to them helped me cope a lot in life when I was growing up. But when it comes to kalimba, I admire Ms. Sandrah Araja and April Yang. They both inspired me to do better and to learn one step at a time.

  • Yes. I love doing arts and crafts specifically calligraphy, painting, journaling, knitting/crocheting. I also love reading and writing.

  • Take one step at a time. Learning is always a process. You can't master something overnight. It takes time. And just as you are taking your time, you should enjoy the process. Kalimba is a wonderful instrument you can easily fall in love. So love it. Because that's how easily and smoothly you can play it.
