The sky is no longer blue, it’s now dark and full of dazzling stars. Under the smiling moon, there I was playing my favorite tunes. Every pluck in the tines produces harmony like a lullaby slowly giving me peace, silence is now within me. These two thumbs of mine feel like a majestic wand, free as the flowers dancing with the wind; In every pluck, I realize this Kalimba is the source of magic that my wand can freely use to give me silence. With the current circumstances of our world where chaos and confusion are brought by this deadly virus, it causes us to lower our chins and there it is, tears longing for silence. It truly brings me sadness, seeing my fellows suffering from drastic shackles that this pandemic has created. Will it ever end? I don’t know. I hope it will. Yes, I’m sure it will. Contrasting answers that mirror different perceptions with various emotions from the same question however what matters is how we cope up with this challenge, how we can pass this seemingly mighty mountain; being kind and all is what matters but for me, there’s something more. Something magical which I think played by mystical creatures, an instrument with its seventeen keys and a hole, helps me to cope up with the challenges. Terrible noises orchestrated by the pandemic keeps on ringing in my ears but thankfully the gift of Kalimba, the key to silence is within me. Missy Elliott once said, “Music should be your escape”.
