“L’Empereur, sa femme et le petit prince” (i.e. “The emperor, his wife, and the little prince”) is a French folk song of the second half of the 19th century. The lyrics make a reference to Napoleon III, Empress Eugénie and the Prince impérial. It is still widely taught to children as a means of learning the days of the week. An alternative version of the lyrics reads “le roi, la reine et le petit prince” (i.e. “the king, the queen, and the little prince”). Perfect for beginners.
