How i started to play Kalimba? Well not too long, My co-worker bought a kalimba a year ago (before the ECQ Season 1) and played with it in the office. I was confused that time how it works? It is just a small instrument but creates a music like a music box. I used to play keyboard before so the first i saw it. I tried to figure out how to play it and then I desired to buy my own too. So without asking anyone I looked on Lazada Apps for cheapest Kalimba. During that time I’m so clueless on what brand is good? Are there different keys of Kalimba? What type of Kalimba Flat board or Hallow? So i just looked for the nice color, the price and checked out immediately. Then I started to play with it. I looked for a Kalimba Tutorial on YouTube and I am so amused because they’re a lot of Kalimba Tutorials there and almost the all songs that i knew.
I started playing God will make a way of Don Moen in my Kalimba. The first time I played it I almost I gived up. Who would thought that the small instrument was so hard to play because you need patience in memorizing the tabs. But i was determined to finished that song. I brought my Kalimba in the office and played with it during my free time. But still not enough to play it completely. So ECQ came. Finally, I got lot of time to practice. While my baby is sleeping i play Kalimba, while cooking i watch Kalimba Tutorial, joined Kalimba Groups in FB. While my baby is playing i play Kalimba also And as time passed by Kalimba became part of my daily lives. I started to make tabs for the song that I want and created my own YouTube channel to share it with others.
I could say that My Kalimba and I become a partner in creating music of our own. I see my hearts cries and my soul desires everytime I play with it. And i could say thanks for the quarantine times because it helps me to figure out my lost desire in music. A desire to spread love, good vibes and relaxation through this small instrument.
