The Bear Dance (or Bear’s Dance) is a medieval melody, originally from Belgium. In the olden days dancing bears were still considered as a tasteful kind of entertainment. Today most of us know better… But still it is a nice tune, easy to learn how to play, and most performers of early music with self-respect have done it. The Bear Dance is often heard performed by folk musicians at medieval fairs and renaissance fairs (happily without tame bears). Dozens, if not hundreds, of versions can be found at Youtube, for those not familiar with the melody. 🙂
