Dating back to the Francoist dictatorship in Spain, “Gallo rojo, gallo negro” (i.e. ” Red rooster, black rooster”) is one of Ferlosio’s most famous protest songs. Initially it spread anonymously in student circles before being included in the “A Contratiempo” album. The lyrics are an allegory of the Spanish Civil War. Basic kalimba arrangement and lyrics below.
