7 1’ 1’ 1’ 1’ 7 1’ 2’ 1’
We were both young when I first saw you.

1’ 7 1’ 1’ 1’ 1’ 7 1’ 2’
I close my eyes and the flash-back starts.

1’ 7 1’ 6
I’m stand-in’ there

1’ 1’ 1’ 7 7 5 5 5 6
on a bal-co-ny in sum-mer air.

7 1’ 1’ 1’ 1’ 7 1’ 1’ 2’ 1’
See the lights, see the par-ty, the ball-gowns.

7 1’ 1’ 1’ 1’ 7 1’ 2’ 1’ 7 1’ 6
See you make your way through the crowd and say hel-lo.

1’ 7 5 5 6
Lit-tle did I know

1’ 7 1’ 1’ 1’ 1’
That you were Ro-me-o.

1’ 1’ 7 1’ 2’ 1’
You were throw-ing peb-bles,

1’ 1’ 1’ 1’ 2’
and my dad-dy said,

1’ 1’ 1’ 1’ 5’ 4’ 3’ 3’
“Stay a-way from Ju-li-et.”

2’ 3’ 2’ 3’ 2’ 3’ 3’ 3’ 1’
And I was cry-in’ on the stair-case,

2’ 2’ 2’ 2’ 1’ 4’ 3’
beg-gin’ you, “Please don’t go.”

3’ 3’ 1’
And I said,

1’ 1’ 4’ 3’ 1’
“Ro-me-o, take me

1’ 2’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 1’ 2’
some-where we can be a-lone.

1’ 2’ 3’ 2’
I’ll be wait-ing.

1’ 2’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 1’ 2’
All there’s left to do is run.

1’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 2’ 1’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 2’
You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the prin-cess.

1’ 1’ 2’ 3’ 3’
It’s a love sto-ry.

3’ 2’ 3’ 3’ 2’ 1’
Ba-by, just say yes.”

5 7 1’ 1’ 1’ 1’ 7 1’ 1’ 2’ 1’
So, I sneak out to the gar-den to see you.

7 1’ 1’ 1’ 1’ 7 1’ 2’ 2’
We keep quiet, ‘cause we’re dead if they knew.

1’ 7 1’ 6
So, close your eyes,

1’ 1’ 1’ 1’ 7 5 5 5 6
es-cape this town for a lit-tle while.

1’ 7 1’ 1’ 1’ 1’
‘Cause you were Ro-me-o,

1’ 1’ 1’ 7 1’ 2’ 1’
I was the scar-let let-ter,

1’ 1’ 1’ 1’ 2’
and my dad-dy said,

1’ 1’ 1’ 1’ 5’ 4’ 3’ 3’
“Stay a-way from Ju-li-et.”

2’ 3’ 2’ 3’ 2’ 3’ 3’ 3’
But you were ev-’ry-thing to me.

2’ 1’ 2’ 2’ 2’ 2’ 1’ 4’ 3’
I was beg-gin’ you, “Please don’t go.”

3’ 3’ 1’
And I said,

1’ 1’ 4’ 3’ 1’
“Ro-me-o, take me

1’ 2’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 1’ 2’
some-where we can be a-lone.

1’ 2’ 3’ 2’
I’ll be wait-ing.

1’ 2’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 1’ 2’
All there’s left to do is run.

1’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 2’ 1’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 2’
You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the prin-cess.

1’ 1’ 2’ 3’ 3’
It’s a love sto-ry.

3’ 2’ 3’ 3’ 2’ 1’
Ba-by, just say yes.”

1’ 1’ 4’ 3’ 1’
“Ro-me-o, save me.

1’ 1’ 2’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 1’ 2’
They’re try’n’ to tell me how to feel.

1’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 3’ 2’
This love is dif-fi-cult,

1’ 2’ 1’ 5’ 2’
but it’s real.

1’ 2’ 1’ 3’
Don’t be a-fraid.

2’ 1’ 2’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 2’
We’ll make it out of this mess.

1’ 1’ 2’ 3’ 3’
It’s a love sto-ry.

3’ 2’ 3’ 3’ 2’ 1’
Ba-by, just say yes.”

3’ 2’ 7 7 7 1’
I got tired of wait-ing,

6 1’ 1’ 1’ 2’ 3’ 3’ 3’ 3’ 4’ 3’ 2’
won-der-in’ if you were ev-er com-ing a-round.

1’ 3’ 1’ 7 7
My faith in you was

2’ 1’
fad-ing

1’ 1’ 2’ 3’ 3’ 3’ 5’ 2’ 2’ 2’
when I met you on the out-skirts of town.

1’ 2’ 1’
And I said,

1’ 1’ 4’ 3’ 1’
“Ro-me-o, save me.

1’ 2’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 1’ 2’
I’ve been feel-in’ so a-lone.

1’ 2’ 3’ 2’
I keep wait-ing

1’ 2’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 1’ 2’
for you, but you nev-er come.

2’ 1’ 2’ 1’ 3’
Is this in my head?

2’ 1’ 1’ 2’ 1’ 3’
I don’t know what to think.”

2’ 1’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 2’ 1’ 2’ 1’ 3’ 3’ 2’
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said,

2’ 2’ 6’ 4’# 3’ 3’
“Mar-ry me, Ju-li-et,

2’ 2’ 3’ 3’ 2’ 4’# 2’ 3’
you nev-er have to be a-lone.

2’ 3’ 4’# 3’ 3’ 6’
I love you and that’s

4’# 3’ 3’ 2’ 2’
all I real-ly know.

2’ 2’ 3’ 2’ 4’#
I talked to your dad.

3’ 2’ 3’ 2’ 4’# 3’
Go pick out a white dress.

2’ 2’ 3’ 4’# 4’#
It’s a love sto-ry.

4’# 3’ 4’# 4’# 3’ 2’
Ba-by, just say yes.”

6 4’# 3’ 4’#
Oh, oh, oh,

6 4’# 3’ 2’
oh, oh, oh, oh.

6 1’# 2’ 2’ 2’ 2’ 1’# 2’ 3’ 2’
‘Cause we were both young when I first saw you.
